Hello and Welcome to the Steel Tropics Website
Steel Tropics is Southern California’s most exciting &
entertaining Steel Drum and Calypso Band.
This lively Caribbean Steel Drum Band entertains all around the Southern California area. The group can be found providing Hot Steel Drum Music for a variety of performances that include: Private Parties, Concerts, Music Festivals,
Beach Weddings, Tropical Theme Parties, Music for Television & Motion Pictures, Corporate Events and several Cable Television spots in the Los Angeles, San Diego,
Palm Springs and Orange County California areas.
The
Group is led by Steel Drummer & Recording Artist, Tom Liston. Tom first
heard the music of the steel drum bands being played years ago and immediately
fell in love with the intoxicating sound of the instrument. His love for
steel drum music & the tropical rhythms really comes through in the Band's
live performances as well as their many "Island" music recordings. The Band's
1st Caribbean steel drum
recording was so successful that they have
decided to record at least one new CD every year! Keep your ears and eyes
open for current and future Steel Tropics recordings. Check
out several of the steel drum music samples within the site here. They are
really groovin’ while at the same time sound very soothing and relaxing.
The Band's brand new CD is

all original steel drum music composed entirely by Tom Liston.
Steel Tropics has a great time performing many types of tropical music
grooves. Whether it is
playing styles such as Soca, Calypso, Traditional Steel Drum Music, Reggae or
a Samba, the ensemble’s island music sound will make the listener feel
as if they are on a beach somewhere in the sunny Caribbean.
